Howzit guys,

So I bought a 2014 Corsa Essentia with 32400km on the clock 3 weeks ago.

I noted a few things weren't great a few days after taking delivery, I'll list them:
  • Vibration at speeds above 120km/h
  • When applying brakes gently at low speeds, there's a horrendous sound that comes out.
  • Engine's tappets are noisy.
  • The right hand side of the driver's seat feels damp after rain.

How do I approach this situation? The Car now has 34500km on.
Do I force a warranty claim because of the tappets? Am I within my right to request swapping of the vehicle?

Thanks,
Mike

Were the issues there when you did the test drive?

how comprehensive was it?

I drove it for like 10km. None of these issues were there.

-It hadn't rained, so I couldn't feel the seat.
-I didn't drive over 80km/h
-I didn't hear the moaning brakes
-I didn't hear the noisy tappets.

Did you get a DEKRA check done before purchase?

And what did they say?

Sounds like car has been in an accident and badly repaired.

I'm taking the car in today. I inspected the vehicle and the panels are flush, no overspray etc, no accident indicators. I just think the living $%^# was driven out of this car for 31999km .

Must have been extreme driving then - most of those indicators appear to be chassis issues as opposed to an engine being thrashed?

No. Tappets are in the engine.
Brakes moaning and groaning are brakes.
Vibration at high speeds are the rear wheels.

From what I see, the chassis isn't involved here?

If the car has a FSH, manufacturer warranty should sort you out ( just confirm with GM )

I also had a recent purchase where I got a coolant leak which later turned out to be a faulty bottle. Replaced free of charge.

Okay dude...good luck anyway..

This car should still be under the factory warranty and being G2 certified means they have to address all those problems without it costing you a cent.

I have 2010 Corsa Essentia and I do drive the living $%^# out of it, currently has 51000km on and still drives and feels like new. There is something very fishy about the car you bought.

Be very very very careful.

Years ago I bought a 200STi Nissan. Engine made a similar sound and dealer said it was the timing chain I should not worry about it. 6 months later 3/4 conrods pushed through the subassembly. Was a bearing failing. I had to replace the engine myself.

Those okes will be rekt if that happens to this Xhosa. Not gonna take any kek from them. Already told them I don't want it anymore.
