OK so a few months back I got me a Tamron 150-600mm VS OS Lens for my Canon and for the few shots nothing seemed out the ordinary.

These are the things I've recently noticed and not sure if the lens is buggered or if it's normal.

1. AF seems to take forever to focus, like definitely more than 15s.
2. With VS on, and while it's focusing a sound similar to glass moving is heard and I can see the image hop ( like going over a speedbump ) in the view finder. It's like a glass internally is going over a bump and then suddenly drops.
3. If I look at the focus ring while trying to focus, I do not see it move ( not sure if it's suppose to or only when you use the manual focus )

Lens has always been in my carry bag during transport and never been dropped or mishandled.

So my question is, is it busted? Should I take it to Orms to first inspect and will they charge me or should I just send it back to TakeAlot where I got it?

Two and three sound normal. Not sure about number one - what camera and how much available light?

With number 1, in addition to what bwana asked, is your focus limiter switch on the lens set appropriately for the distance?

The latest attempt was pointing at the moon so plenty of light. The attempt before was at sunrise.

Camera is a 70D.

Oh as for point 3, in case i wasn't clear, im not referring to the ring itself but the number dials showing focus distance.

Limiter is always set to full.

You should probably take it in for them to have a look at.

AFAIK Tudor still handles Sigma lenses in SA?

My lens is a tamron though.

Edit: Found Singer photographic in Woodstock who apparently deal with Tamron. Will be sending it in there to be checked out. They also said there is a firmware update for the lenses which addresses VS, focusing and compatibility with new bodies ( don't think the 70D is considered new though ). If I hand in my camera body as well they will calibrate the lens to my body.

Pretty sweet.
