My dog ate my POTS filter (and my homework but thats a different story), so I went to the Rosebank telkom shop to buy a new one and was told they don't have stock. They haven't had for 6 months(?!) and have no idea when they will be getting more.

So the question is, where else can I buy one besides a Telkom shop?

I think I've seen at Electronics123.co.za I believe they have a JHB branch.

Otherwise try: Mantech, Communica, or RS components.

You could always build one yourself, but it would be illegal connecting that to Telkom's highly advanced network....

Unplug the phone(s) for now.

Edit: Alternative if you spot a Telkom techie ask him/her very nicely.

There's a Telkom shop in every suburb as far as I know, one must have one. I swapped one over recently so they are available.

I bought a pots filter at the Rosebank Incredible Connection about 6 months ago.
Try them out.

FYI: Somewhere on Telkom's website there is a stock level indicator that allows the public to check whether specific Telkom products are in stock at the various Telkom Direct Shops in South Africa. This handy application can save you some precious time. (Think of traveling, finding parking and then standing in the queue only to find out that they don't have stock!!!)

(Oh wait, you probably went through that experience at Rosebank already) :p

It's a real pity that the persons responsible for stock levels at Telkom don't make use of this handy application themselves!:confused::confused:

Various online shops sell various makes of ADSL line filters (POTS filters), but the last time I checked, you couldn't collect on the same day that you place your order. (And the delivery charge for a single filter could easily amount to more than the cost of the item!)

So follow the advice in postcount # 4 in the mean time... and just plug back the phones (and/or fax machines) into the line at critical times.

I have about 5 lying around at home. LOL. Somewhere a Telkom office should have.
