Power adapter for external HDD

The connector is common, but ensure you get the amperage of the new adapter correct. If it puts out too few amps, you'll fry the enclosure and maybe also the HDD inside. The Vantec will try to draw amps that the adapter cannot supply. Something will give, and it won't be pretty...

Make sure it's the same colour, too. Sometimes...... :)

You should be sorted now.

... in no particular order.

The single voltage (12V) ones are easy to find. Not so easy are the 12V and 5V 4-pin versions. The cheap enclosures generally use the dual supply versions, whereas the single supply 12V versions have an integrated 5V regulator on the interface board for generating the 5V for the drive and interface electronics.

@ponder
I don't know about jxharding, but mine doesn't use that 4-pin plug. I know that's the normal one for external hard drives, but mine uses a simple round one like a larger Nokia charger...

I was not replying to your post, jxharding needs 4-pin mini-DIN connector for the 12V & 5V rails ;)
