Just confirmed with pcmall that the UPS I ordered has one cable from wall to PSU and one from PSU to tower. And I need extra cable from PSU to monitor, something like this one http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/product_info.php?cPath=155_280&products_id=5753
Where else could I get something like this? PCMALL's live chat guy always disappeared halfway during a session. Sybaritic no stock, most of other online shop I checked doesn't have this cable....

And some of you guys also run switch, router frou UPS, what kind of converter/extension cable do you use? Or maybe your UPS has different socket at the back? :(

Go buy the sockets at any electrical shop and make your own cable up?

Did it with mine, have an extra long cable that way :D

:o Will see when I get my UPS. Oh shxx! My router and switch has one of those 3 pin plug with converter together thing........

Just go and get a male kettle connector, any decent electrical/lighting shop should have. Then buy a normal multi plug, snip off the 3 prong wall socket and put the kettle connector on in it's place. Connect that up to the UPS, now you can plug in your router and switch.

if i do that and connect everything to the multi plug, is that fine? or can it like overload the one plug of the UPS thats being used

Good idea, I should have thought about it. Must be the load shedding affecting my brain now

ADSL Connection keeps crapping out - sorry for the double-post...

I have just what Azreal suggested -- my LCD, router and speakers connected to one of my 700VA UPS's using one of the cables mentioned in the orignal post - I just cut the end off (the right end that does not plug into the UPS) and bought a double-sided adapter plug (like the ones found on the cheap extension cords) from Mica for R30-odd and fitted to the cut-off end - this means I can use a normal 3-pin plug, or plug-in a 2-pin adapter to run off the UPS for the PC items that have this - definitely worthwhile...

... I also made a second one to plug a lounge lamp into an old 400VA UPS - at least I have some light with the blackouts! :D

That's exactly what I've done, works great on 1000 VA ups. I have my tower, monitor, router and cordless phone all plugged in ;)
