@fragtion thank you, you are likely correct, I have now ran the system on battery only for 3 consecutive days and it's been perfect, no flicker or strange noises on any of the pumps. Guessing Eskom doesn't really have enough power so we need ripple control?

@Geoff.D changed my capacitor just because it looked old and wasn't an expensive exercise, my original one was marked 400V 25uf, bought a larger one, 500v 30uf, price difference was only R8, works fine, thanks.
The 500V is the critical spec change. The extra 5uF will not make much difference to the performance.

Cockroach thing actually worked on my rat problem, couldn't get rid of them, R2k worth of bait which they didnt eat, the ones they did, didn't seem to kill them, moment of weakness, bought the above, after a week, rats were gone, for 2 whole years and a bit, then the magic wore off. The mess they left on the ceiling needed professional cleaning.

There are some things that science just can't explain.
