We have just suffered a major power failure in Kempton Park, and during the failure, I have only been able to connect on EDGE. Is this to be expected whenever power is lost to the tower location?

Maybe they stole the copper cables to tower :p

Always possible :P but it's just come back up so I assume they either returned the copper... OR it's a power issue

Looks like it was the Aston Manor tower - Cell C chaps - do you have backup power for this point ?

Dont think they'll answer. Sent Cell_C a pm earlier, not replied & he's been online for a while now.
Lack of interest maybe...

Possibly they have more pressing issues to sort out... but as a brand new customer, it's worrying to see the WHOOOSH killed off by a power outage. It doesn't inspire confidence. :(

I've lost confidence in them on multiple ocassions.
But hey, its cheap cheeep, internet. You get what you pay for.

some operators default to only backup 2G if there is a power failure. This allows the site to stay on air longer. 2G gives better coverage so its the preferred technology.

I suspected as much - and I expect that this will stay the case until 2G is finally phased out - if that ever happens :)
