Was anyone else in the Benoni area affected by the power spike yesterday??
They took out a R250 000 printer at my sister's work.

And it looks like it bricked my ADSL router as well  the only thing in the house thats not on a UPS with power regulation...

I think the surge might have bricked the GPRS routers on some of the cell towers as well cause i've struggled to get online with GPRS this morning.

The insurance people are going to be crying this month :(

Nope...... all my toys are running perfectly still. Maybe the power spikes were isolated to a specific area ?

I didn't notice a power surge but we did have one last year and it totally fryed all our electronics... I'm based in Norton Home Estates. Where are you folks?

I had a heavy power surge in Roodepoort/West Rand. It lasted about 5 seconds if I remember correctly. Baisically the lights went dim and my HUB went off for the duration, but my PSU seemed to have handled it well and my PC stayed on throughout the crisis (No UPS...)

Thats a power dip - not a power surge
Equipment got wiped out in Northmead and brighter glowing lights were noticed in the Benoni CBD

seems something lost balance on the power grid, too much voltage pumped into one area and too little to the other?
