Ok, my car is showing that the power steering fluid is low so I opened the bonnet... Where the hell do you put this schits in??? Not that I bought it, but I was at my local filling station and these guys don't have any idea either.

Please help!

Should smell like fish oil.

PS: Car manual should say where everything is.

That much of a leak is probabaly making a mess on the road, will soon interfere with ability to steer the vehicle, and may require an expensive repair bill. (Happened to my neighbour...)

And make sure you get the right type of oil, I THINK Dexron III is the right one.

In front of the drivers side strut mount.
Anyone that know what a strut mount is, will know where to topup the power steering oil.
I don't know what a strut mount is...but luckily my (vehicle's) topup points are all clearly marked.

Those two bulges on the inside of the engine compartment over the wheels that the 'shocks' are bolted to contain the strut mounts.

you get a green and a red type. go to "midas" and buy a bottle, 1 liter is the smallest you can buy.

Thanks to this forum I've learnt something new today, I never knew before that there Is a green steering fluid.

there is different types of steering fluid

True, but none are green. If you walk into a spares shop and mention a green/red liquid they will think of coolant.

Red = ATF/Dexron
White Champagne coulour = VAG/Merc

Older VW power steering fluid (labelled hydraulic fluid on the bottle) - blue-green.

Update: me and my neighbour ended up servicing the car, changing filters, etc and all is normal.

What happened was the power steering warning would come on and then you'd feel resistance immediately from the steering wheel. Only happened on slow speeds though.

The car was overdue for a service for a couple of months already though, so I'm suspecting it uses whatever we replaced.

Disclaimer : when I said "we" I meant I was supporting him alcoholically
