Fluid level was very low and steering a bit stiff. Filled up the reservoir with new fluid and now I have weird noise (dunno how to describe it but it sounds like you turning your wheel at standstill on a painted cement floor).

Is the problem related to the pump (worn vanes etc) or the steering rack?

Air bubble maybe?

I spoke to a very friendly and helpful guy by the name of David from Powerbrake and Steering International and he reckons 90% the same thing. According to him my cars pump rarely gives issues and from my complete description of what happened prior to the noise he reckons it's air locked in the system.

He proceeded to give a very good description on how to drain the system and then how to refill it without air getting sucked back in.

Based on his friendly help I would definitely take my car to them if I have steering or brake problems, they also recondition pumps and stuff fyi.

Now I need to find a little helper as this is a two man job unless I wanna run around the car the whole time...

That's nice to hear.

Imagine my relief :)

Sorry, but I won't be able to help you though. ;)

Damn :D

Just checked now and with the car running there is a schiteload of bubbles feeding back into the reservoir from the rack side, wish the damn thing could bleed all the air out by itself but it's unfortunately not the way it works....
