Remote Power Switch for circuit board??

Hey folks, was helping someone here might help me out a little.

I'm looking for a remote control power switch for a 12V alarm system. Just something small and cheap as possible, that i can use to turn my homemade bike alarm on and off. I think I've phoned just about every electric component supplier in Cape Town and the only result was to cannibalize a locked remote system from a security gate or some other system. Which will cost between R280 and R400, i've also thought of hobby shops and adapting a remote control for a model but that's about R600.

Does anyone have any other ideas for me? I would prefer to avoid using a key switch since bypassing it would be too easy for any thieves. Any suggestions?

You should be able to get a remote button and one or two channel receiver (It depends how you want to wire in the unit) from any decent electronic shop or Alarm/Security company. RS components would have but they are expensive, also Communica electronics should have. They come fairly cheap and also in electronic kit form. Also try electric fencing companies or Car alarm installation companies for a remote control receiver. Centurion systems I use such a two channel unit to remotely start and stop a power generator. A multi switch key would cost about R100.00 and a two channel receiver up to R300.00.

thanks for the help, was thinking of checking out my local scrap yard seeing if i can get an alarm receiver and remote. but i'll check out some of the other electronic stores, receiver and remote go for about R350. For a board that cost me under R150 to build, it sounds a bit crazy.

Modify a wireless doorbell. They are available for under R100 from hardware shops, PnP and other DIY outlets.
