Power system under pressure: Eskom

Wait, so we're losing nearly 20% of our capacity to planned maintenance and unplanned outages?!?!?!

WTF Eskom, pull your bloody socks up and fix your rubbish.

We've been luck with relatively mild weather so far this autumn. When the first major cold-front of winter arrives, then we'll see how the power grid copes...

Solar geyser - check.
Gas hob - check.
Battery backup (1.5 days) on notebook and ADSL - check.

Gas heaters.

That reminds me. Need to reinstall my solar panel this weekend.

Forgot about that. Took genny as a given.

5500W that plugs direct into mains and powers house. Only fire it up when juice is down for long though.

Must do water tank soon as well. Neighbours just had theirs done. Awesome.

Eskom has nationalised the energy grid .. where the people are responsible for their own electricity.

That reminds me, have to charge up my backup truck batteries !

Those keep my 3G, tablets, notebook and a few LED lights going for a few days !

Gas heater and gas stove. And FU Eskom, incompetence reigns supreme !

You got it all wrong ! It's not eskom's incompetence, it's our fault, the public's fault, for using more electricity.

What do we do when we can't meet the electricity demand ? We make our current supply more expensive, and demand from the public to turn off their heaters in winter.

Just another reason why africa is abosutely brimming with opportunity !

Eskom: "Sorry we didn't plan properly or look after our stuff, so now it's your fault!"
