Another twitter user, I mean do people just regurgitate what they hear? I mean I've had full on arguments with people over the 17 000 employees and producing more in 1994 Eskom thing, one guy said it a few years ago and it spread. In reality they had as many employees as now and only produced 24GW they could do 37GW, like we techhnically could do 48

Oooh I see :-). Yeah that makes sense, looking through twitter it does seem we came back 40 minutes into shedding.
 
Interesting report on Moneyweb today saying although NERSA is technically the only one that can grant exemptions, they are not enforcing this, leaving it up to municipalities to decide who is exempted

Despite legislative requirements for equity in the application of load shedding, there is no oversight to ensure the pain is spread evenly among South African electricity users.

When Eskom calls on local distributors – mostly municipalities – to lower their usage, it is in the hands of “the guy who flips the switch” without any oversight over the decisions taken by municipal officials about who to shed and who to exempt.

This is clear from the responses of the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa), which is required to ensure the implementation of load shedding rules, perform audits, provide a reporting system, consider and approve exemptions, and publish a list of exempted sites.

It's a two sided coin I recon. Let them deal with complaints or extremes, but if they start telling our Jo'burg muni what to do for example it could mess up plans to fine tune us into less LS.

We'll hopefully have a more Federate-type democracy one day, provinces having more of their own control.
 
Hmmm technically we shouldn't need more then stage 2 tonight, but it would literally be for 2 hours, but anyway.

They're not referring to the coal powerstations, they're referring to the OCGT plants which are meant to be peakers.

Besides Monday most of the time they've been run as peakers and aren't run all the time burning lots and lots of diesel. It's misinformation that people keep spreading.
Also coal plants will run a bit better now in the cooler air.
