This is from our councilor (wealthy area) -- I literally can't believe there are some residents like this... is it because they want to be able to use their inverters, batteries and solar systems? Good grief!!!

Over the past few months, I have been receiving requests from residents who do not get loadshedding, to have the City investigate why this is, and put their street on the normal loadshedding grid. I find this quite surprising, especially since no other resident in said street was consulted. I want to be clear that I will not use scarce City resources to investigate this and make this change. What little power we have during loadshedding can be very helpful in the future where other residents can be assisted when in need

And finally, if you truly feel that loadshedding should be equitable across the board and you have electricity during loadshedding, then I suggest shutting off your own power while loadshedding is taking place and self-loadshed. Or you could invite a neighbour who does not have electricity during loadshedding over for a hot cup of tea.
