poweralert stage 2.....

This is from our councilor (wealthy area) -- I literally can't believe there are some residents like this... is it because they want to be able to use their inverters, batteries and solar systems? Good grief!!!

Over the past few months, I have been receiving requests from residents who do not get loadshedding, to have the City investigate why this is, and put their street on the normal loadshedding grid. I find this quite surprising, especially since no other resident in said street was consulted. I want to be clear that I will not use scarce City resources to investigate this and make this change. What little power we have during loadshedding can be very helpful in the future where other residents can be assisted when in need

Haha, I love his response:

And finally, if you truly feel that loadshedding should be equitable across the board and you have electricity during loadshedding, then I suggest shutting off your own power while loadshedding is taking place and self-loadshed. Or you could invite a neighbour who does not have electricity during loadshedding over for a hot cup of tea.

Oh man May needs to end. Literally can't wait. Going back to the good old days of 2 hours a day.

Bodes well for durban keeping our 2 hour slots.
Will be interesting to see how this all works out. I see Eskom firing off to the courts in the not too distant future. "They can't do that waaaa. They need to shed all the power they can waaaa".

About that…

*CORRECTION: CITY POWER MEDIA ALERT*

City Power would like to retract the recent media statement sent earlier today regarding the implementation of its revised loadshedding schedule which is intended to reduce the frequency of blackouts and ensure minimal disruption to our customers.

The media statement was a working draft that was sent erroneously.

The correct final statement will be released tomorrow after consultations with other stakeholders have been completed.

We profusely apologise for the error!

Isaac Mangena, Spokesperson
