Yes, what @TheChamp says is true (apparently):
It did need to be clarified:

I do get that it's confusing, what annoys me is the two who goes on to pronounce on it even though they have no idea what's going on.

Eskom and the municipality reached a settlement some time ago, around 2019 or 2020, the municipality has been paying a monthly amount towards the debt and they have now settled it in full.

Well done to the municipality and we'll done to Eskom, their debt recovery drive is bearing fruit, with the recent Emfuleni court order and now this.

Those of you who like to moan and come up with sily conspiracy theories when Eskom demands it's money from Tshwane, take note of this and the Emfuleni court order.

Next up Soweto

So thanks to the increased stages and back to 3 times a day I've set it back to keeping batteries charged more often. Amazing how higher load shedding I actually rely on Eskom more

It's just fear of running out. Like before lockdown when everyone stockpiled toilet paper. Do a test to see if you can go 24 hours without Eskom. Once you do that fear will subside. Obviously a bit harder now with the cold, but maybe when it warms up...

I've already done the test, I've actually gone days without touching it besides geysers and stove. That was also with the safety net of Eskom in the morning just in case
But the new kettle likes to chomp and coffee is needed :) but yeah.

Next up is anywhere they have a likelihood of getting something, so probably another municipality where residents are paying the bills but the municipality is not paying Eskom.
Good to hear our criminal government and their municipal friends are making a few pre-election good gestures, but don't think for a mo anyone here is getting their hopes up

Aaand..... stage 6 just announced for this afternoon & evening.

Been using a for-gas kettle for about 15 years, surprised you don't have that?

Used to have that issue, since the almost 17 hour maintenance on our substation we've had faaar less of it.
Same here, rare event now but it would be nice to have maintenance announcements again as well instead of just going dark when they feel like it..

Crap! My batteries cannot support my AC for 4 hours overnight on Stage 6. Gonna be a cold cold night.

I've got one, but the wife moans :-) but I've been moaning back at her, normal kettle fine during the day, early morning and evening kettle is gas :-). Took some time man, took some time.

Stop relying on electricity to keep warm, throw on another blanket, put on longer pants, get winter socks, gloves. I mean we live in SA, it's not that cold.
