Point is Eskom needs to use the energy it generate so if there is no demand at night time they will push the power to their pumping stations and send it out to businesses and homes. The problem is most of us are sleeping so the demand doesn't go up. This is known as stable consumption.

That means that little prepaid meter in your house can then consume units of power so that you can go out and buy some more. Otherwise Eskom will go bankrupt. So not load shedding at night means there reserve power has been replenished and is at the ready. So they push power to our homes that we can consume our units of power that we paid for.

I can buy maybe that the prepaid meters have some sort of fault. Even there Eskom can't directly control the meters as far as I'm aware. So it won't be malicious, just some fault.

It just seems like such a wild idea.

It also definitely wouldn't be actual excess power being piped to our houses. It would be trickery happening at the meter level when no actual excess power is being consumed. It's simply claimed that it was.

@10:10 you need some sort of consumer pulling amps to actually consume the electricity. Eskom can't just decide to send you more electricity to make the meter move quicker. It doesn't work like that.
 
Outa has estimated the cost of Karpowership's power at R5/kW (which it says is roughly two to three times the cost of alternative generation solutions), compared with Nersa's proclamation of R2. 80/kWh.

I'd say the oinking fatsultans will peg it at R8/kW and grow even fatter.

Your ANC buddies are not doing it out of goodwill, they are doing it in order to enrich themselves.

Considering they only produce up to half of the diesel generators? Also not taking into account the environmental issues.

Who knows with them, the scary thing is the quick jump from actually performing well to back to normal again. @porchrat sadly it seems Eskom just disappoints.

Start of last week that was at 62%, hopefully this last week it remains roughly the same, though they did drop unplanned outages but the planned went up 5%
