What?They are not going to turn the power off at night. Simple fact about power generation, they have no real way to store most of the power they generate. I say most because we have peak generation that can store energy by pumping water and then allowing it to turn turbines when they need them.
Point is Eskom needs to use the energy it generate so if there is no demand at night time they will push the power to their pumping stations and send it out to businesses and homes. The problem is most of us are sleeping so the demand doesn't go up. This is known as stable consumption.
That means that little prepaid meter in your house can then consume units of power so that you can go out and buy some more. Otherwise Eskom will go bankrupt. So not load shedding at night means there reserve power has been replenished and is at the ready. So they push power to our homes that we can consume our units of power that we paid for.
