Not just about going solar. It needs to encourage people to be informed enough to build a system capable of running everything on essentials.

Outages like this result in kak showers because people listen to installers and put high draw stuff on non-essentials, instead of learning to manage it themselves...

I agree, that's the easy thing for the installer to do. Fitting some smart isolators to a few things can make the world of difference.
Sunsynk was peddling the connect "smart switch" earlier in the year but it never materialised. Something like that would be a game changer for the typical install.

I'm on two in the area and the one is fine but the other one the admins have an overdose of self importance purging members and deleting posts asking innocent questions left, right and centre. At least our DA councillor is trying her best unlike the idiot you have on your side.

Ah yes, the rich getting preferential treatment- again. That's why I sold up there about 13 years ago... property there became a liability, not an investment.

You can't call him an idiot... He works hard, hard at not sure what exactly. Cause he will literally tell you that he doesn't work for City Power, JHB water or JRA. So it's like well numpty you essentially work for us, we're asking for your help, not for you to throw up your hands

@Lupus, I will be back in SA next week, when I have settled I will see if one of my contacts still works at CP, will give him a call and tell him to try and do something about that situation. I haven't spoken to him since I moved to CT 7 years ago but maybe, just maybe.
FYI - returing to slaapstad, with generator and Sunsynk, a worker bliksemed through the tiles so when that's sorted the panels can be connected and Eskom can go get rekt.
When I am unpacked I will start with the monitoring project, so that we can somehow get the truth out of Eskom's constant spew of lies

In my life I have lived in three different wards in JHB, all off them DA wards.
All three DA councillors made the ANC look like a model of competence and composure.
Their only ability was to switch from blaming opposition lead council to blaming JRA, CP etc when the DA was in charge.

I don't know how the DA expects me to vote for them on a national level when the level of incompetence at the ward level is below any quantifiably standard
