Been monitoring gas heater usage more closely now - the smell after longish use isn't like the strong chemical one when you first turn on, closest I can use to describe it is like a mild sour Mieliepap smell. Also, the air begins to feel stale to the nose.

Warning - not a safety bypass option.

Stale to the nose could be that the air is drying out, which heat does do.

This Jo'burg weather influence theory - my money is on So-we-to being the "culprit" when it's cold, but wet weather doesn't make sense?

I'm not following?
Well, we've got the different kind of influences in Jo'burg that could be behind any reality to our theory - rich / political residence areas, industrial ones, anc-voter areas;

Jo'burg weather can vary a lot.
Someone who's got time should watch how some popular influence areas seem to parallel LS changes.

1. Closest to me - Alexandra / Sandton / Midrand (/ Randburg) (/ Houghton) in the North / North East
2. Industrial areas in the West / South East
3. Soweto in the South West

I think huge Soweto gets more free than known, so when it's heater time.....
