I must I've been quite impressed with the wind output this week - I'm guessing we have much more wind installed than solar? SA should definitely focus more on wind than solar through the renewables energy programme.

and geography and water availability dependant.Probably because that would be rather expensive to put up.
Cause pumped storage is rolled into available, we have I think 5500 wind, around 3k solar and 500csp. Pumped storage isn't cheap you need to build dams which aren't cheap and as we've seen they don't get built well sometimes.I must I've been quite impressed with the wind output this week - I'm guessing we have much more wind installed than solar? No problem, my batteries can easily go through the night.Switching to renewables is going to cost trillions not billions, that is if you don't want blackouts at night.
Load shedding to be suspended on Saturday morning after record spell
Load shedding will be suspended at 05:00 on Saturday morning due to lower weekend demand and adequate emergency generation reserves, Eskom said in a statement on Friday.
The embattled power utility has implemented a record spell of unbroken rolling power cuts as it suffered a series of breakdowns at many of its key power stations in recent weeks.
"While the generation capacity constraints persist, the suspension of loadshedding is possible due to the anticipated lower weekend demand, as well as adequate levels of emergency generation reserves. Eskom will publish a further update on Sunday afternoon, or as soon as there are any significant changes.Since yesterday afternoon a generation unit each at Camden, Grootvlei, Hendrina, Kendal, Kriel, Majuba and Tutuka power stations have returned to service," spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha said.
A generating unit at Duvha Power Station was taken offline to be repaired.
Eskom currently has 5 512 MW on planned maintenance, with another 13 484MW out due to breakdowns.

They're only for export these days so Eskom should be "fine".Transnet has entered the chat
Nobody. I believe you've adequately curbed your own enthusiasm, whilst adding a disclaimer as food for thought for the naive. Well done.Supply's still a bit constrained for now.
If they can repair and bring the other units online, then that'll be even better.
But who am I kidding?
