Or short, if the lights go out permanently.
I genuinely wonder how close we actually are to that point. Units returning to service are tripping as soon as they come online. Those boilers must be more repairs and welds than original metal at this point...

Edit: I actually just had a look at my schedule in JHB, there is no way this is stage 6. I have two, four hour slots between two, two hour slots from 0000 to 2359. I swear to god this was the previously published stage 7/8 schedule

Stage 4 yes till 4pm remember the days when the higher stages were only till midnight, now for some arbitrary reason it's till 5am every day.
I guess they stop pumping water at 5am. Before, there was enough capacity to cover night time load after midnight and pump water.

True. When my power goes out and its not according to the schedule I think to myself, there goes the grid.

Its like Russian roulette a couple times a day. Will we be thrown into chaos or will the lights come back on?

Yup, I just checked. This is actually the stage 7 schedule. We actually have 8 hours of power in 'real' stage 7 according to the new schedule now. Before it was 10 hours at 7 and 12 hours at stage 8. On this new schedule at stage 8 I have 4-6 hours of power. Holy actual ****.

Are you with Eskom or City Power? City power schedules that I've seen: Stage 8 = 3*4 hour outages = 12hr no power over the day. That is discounting an optimistic hour and half worth of time waiting for the power to come back on over the day. And I say optimistic because the higher the stages the longer the restoration time.

Eskomsepush is feeling optimistic. Friday 13th stage 6 the whole day.
Personally I have monopoly money on officially meeting stage 8 this year.

City Power, my 4*4 hour slots would like a word, tho I do believe the 6-hour slot it shows for me is a mistake... I ****ing hope it is at least...

10 days into the year and we've already surpassed 2018.

In 150 days we will have surpassed 2022, and in 354 days then what? Do we carry the streak into 2024 or does it reset?

Hold on for next year. We can beat this year by 24 hours!
