That is where you are mistaking you still will be paying for Eskom, this is why it is socialism. The monetary benefit comes from saving the money that you would be paying Eskom.
No private solar user installs a system with the main intention of backfeeding. The main intention is to not pay Eskom only to subject yourself to their mercy.
If you're installing a system with the intention of making money from it, then get a license from Nersa which will allow you to generate up to 100MW.
You need to differentiate between residential and commercial. That's where the confusion is coming in...

probably both... hahaSo I've heard reliably it is back to stage 2 tonight. Also heard that diesel theft may send us back to stage 4, which is it???
No announcement otherwise so far, so I would assume stage 2.So I've heard reliably it is back to stage 2 tonight. Also heard that diesel theft may send us back to stage 4, which is it???

Stage 2 most likely from 5pm to 10pm on Wednesday night, with further load-shedding expected for the rest of the week. Updates to follow.
Looking at the power alert it's stage 2They announced last week it would be Stage 2 for rest of week [apart from Monday and Tuesday]. Without further announcements, assume that is the case. I doubt it will get to a worse stage as they are 2 hours away from the regular 5pm slot, but you never know with the 'unreliable and unpredictable' system (as Eskom likes to say).
be thankful it was only 8 minutes and not 48 hours...Quite impressed, had our first 17-18 shed and they only took an extra 8 minutes from us![]()

Sadly electricity isn't really a human right. Access to clean water would be, but electricity not so much. What a truly South African thing...
"They only cut our basic human right to electricity for an hour. - Impressive"
