How much sun do you get at 7pm? I know personally around 7pm my solar system switches to battery or Eskom depending.
Even know it's struggling with more blending from Eskom.
Does yours doesn't have molten salt.

There was 300MW at 7pm on monday:

But it does have batteries which is what the salt acts as :-P
Remember that molten salt also requires a power source to keep it molten, if there has been insufficient solar it could've been a negative value to keep the salt molten over that period.

Lets see what the graph says later.

While true, it can be negated somewhat by not going under a certain threshold (IE don't over discharge) and good insulation.

Also in SA we don't have the negative numbers most country's struggle with when we talk external temp.

negative numbers in power terms.

No higher stages of load shedding yet? I'm starting to get dissipointed in the Stage 8 predictions that was plastered all over the news a few weeks ago

The terrorists are waiting for SONA for maximum impact.

Takes a while. At the moment the pessimists are shouting stage 8 when the realists start doing the same it won't be long.

That looks like stage 4 wasn't even needed
Saw this last night and wondered why we had such a high stage like generation is almost enough to meet demand so why stage 4 and not like stage 2... very suspicious

Yeah stage 2 or 3 would've covered it nicely

Yup. I noticed this trend at the tail end of last year where Stage 6 was implemented on the 16th of December. Previously, the numbers added up to the correct stage of LS. Now on some days, it doesn't.

I wonder if they're trying to run the plants at a lower pace - I remember reading an interview with one of the Eskom execs, where they explained that they try run the plants at 70% (or somewhere thereabout) to try and prevent them from breaking down.

I wonder if they've managed to get some of those troubled plants up and running, but they running them at a low level?
