No mist though

Can someone more knowledgeable please explain planned maintenance? I see it's becoming less and less.

What does it actually mean?

Planned maintenance is when they plan to do maintenance on a certain plant so example pulling a unit off the grid for planned repairs, their main focus was heavy maintenance in summer and less in winter

So planned maintenance is units that's already down and makes no difference to loadshedding if I understand correctly? Or well at least some of it?

These mixed stages changing every day are becoming ridiculous, I don't believe there's something practical behind it from one workday to the next. And as it isn't improving with time this week it's not about fixes progressing.
Just trying to look politically cleva is my guess.

Planned maintenance = you car needs to be serviced annually or every 15000km. So you schedule the service in advance of reaching these milestones. It is planned, you know the car will be out of service and you need to make alternative arrangements if you want to travel on that day.

Breakdown = you drive to work and the engine explodes in a massive ball of fire, taking out a few cars around you in the process. This all happened because you skipped the last few planned maintenance or you did not have enough money at the last planned maintenance to fix a potential problem (or you are dring an Alfa) that was identified during the maintenance.

Unplanned maintenance = you drive to work and the check engine light comes on warning you of the impeding explosion and resuslting big ball of fire. You can still drive but you are walking a tightrope. This is where you need to decide how lucky you feel; either you keep driving or you take the car in for a checkup.
