Eskom probably dropped the ball with their exports causing their local generation to trip would be my guess because they don’t have a loadshedding schedule to follow afaik.
We export like 50 to 100MW to Botswana, but then again Botswana uses 2GW at most

My 2 hour 4-6pm slot yesterday turned into an all night affair as it tripped at 18:05 and only came on this morning at 9am.
Making up for all the time you guys scored, though that happens way to much now

That’s what I’m saying, imagine 100MW suddenly dropping, their puny grid would fall over.
I don't think we export it anyway when we're shedding, only ones we're contracted to is Moz smelters

That slot is the worst as everyone is cooking and the WhatsApp group doesn’t listen when I tell them to turn geysers and stoves off.

Weird power came on early
I wonder if they aren't cycling restoration 'slots' because we have been on 30m early, on time, and 30m late pretty consistently... Wonder if they are maybe trying to stabilize the grid between restoring blocks

We've thought so too, similar here but about 15 / 20 min. swings. Were let off an hour twice last week too.

Exactly, so if a third of their power is coming from imports then surely that will impact their grid when it’s patchy.
A third? 100MW out of 2GW is 5% also we don't export it when we're shedding, turns out we only send to Lesotho and Swaziland which is about 300MW

2 hours early though?

Has Botswana had problems like this before? Maybe lack of maintenance also catching up there, or maybe left wing influence again. Who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't believe the 2GW figure but yeah I was exaggerating on the third comment. What is your theory to the national blackout?
