Does anyone have any experience with this dish?
Would it make any difference to getting a "no answer" error from the tower? ie. would it negate the issue of being too far from a tower?
Funny that you mention Menlo (66). I would have thought Sunnyside (36) would be closer. Maybe you get a rebound signal. Looks like you'll have to wait for the Lyttleton Manor tower, followed whenever by the Centurion one
Menlo and Sunnyside is almost the same distance, measured on an arc. I've found tower 36 most of the times but I'm sure I got 66 once.
The antenna picks up in only 2 spots on the roof, but it's strong enough to pick up with the modem without patch antenna. Strangely enough it lines up directly with the big tower next to Unisa. Sunnyside is right behind that tower as far as I recall.
Anyway. I'll be back in Weltevredenpark and permanent connection in 2 weeks or so.
OK, so you're gonna join the jhb crowd. Good, more b/w in Pta then LOL. BTW, is your nic derived from "Brolloks & Bittergal" an ancient book by Langenhoven ?
Yes indeed it is from Brolloks & Bittergal. Not from the pub in Stellenbosch.
Actually i wish i could say there's more b/w for you guys in pta, bt alas I haven't been able to use any of it....
I've only been on sentech in jhb. Just taking care of the parents' place in pta for a while.
