Hi,

So:

I have an Iburst modem - connect via PPP session (user + pass)...works fine
But I want to plug my Billion router in (via ethenet) and then setup the router to do the PPP session for me, so that I can use the wireless (on the router) and then access the internet without making a local PPP session (on my laptop).

Hope I am clear. Please can someone help me as to the settings.

NOTE: I have tried to do this on the router (logging in and changing settings), but it didnt work. Wireless worked, but no internet access.

Thanks in advance ;)

The first things to make sure of is:

Set your laptop/pc to DHCP so that the router assignes it's IP address dynamically. This way, you do not need to set DNS server address settings on the laptop. If you have to use a static IP on the laptop, be sure to supply DNS server addresses, and that you're using the same IP range as the router.

Next, check if the router is connecting to ADSL i.e. does the PPP connection come up and do you have activity on the 'Internet' LED on the router. If you do, it's only a matter of getting your network set up correctly on your laptop.

If you're router isn't connecting to ADSL, check your WAN settings on the router.

Uuhm nope, your explanation above is not what he is after.

He wants to take the ethernet cable from his Iburst modem and connect it to his Billion router and let the Billion router do the PPP connection and connect to the router wirelessly. That is why I wanted the model number because some of the Billion ADSL router's Lan ports can be configured to be a WAN port.

Sorry about that, I didn't read properly...moderator welcome to remove my response.

Maybe the MTU settings on the router ? had the same problem when I flashed my router ...

It must be a Dual Wan router to effectively load balance or failover.
