Hi guys!
I am looking for some PPPoE dialers.
I am settings up a new server with Fedora Core 5 and would like to find some dialers that works for the following:
  • Windows client to Linux server dialup
  • Linux client to Linux server dialup
  • Dialup within the Linux gateway server

I have iBurst as my internet connection and my linux server is actually the internet gateway. I got it to work great under SuSE the last time but I had to use smpppd for connection operations and queries. Since Fedora Core doesn't have smpppd (since the 's' in smpppd stands for SuSE ;) ) I know that I need an PPPoE dialer that can connect over a network to the internet.

Does anyone know what dialers out there can perform this? (it doesn't have to be the same one)

Thanks

Ok, I decided to go to Ubuntu instead and got the whole gateway thing to work (took a shortcut with FireStarter ;) ) on the gateway router itself (connect & surf the net) and client Windows machines. So far only the gateway can create/close the internet connection.

I tried to use RASPPPOE in Windows to establish a connection to Linux which seems to work at first but then just "stalls" on "Authenticating Username & Password..." when I try to make an internet connection from my Windows machine to my Ubuntu gateway.

I guess RASPPPOE, just won't cut it or I probably done something wrong. Does anyone know of a way to connect to my Ubuntu Gateway with pppoe-server? Weither it be with RASPPPOE, a cool script, a working app, whatever! I just need something right now that can make & break connections from windows (for my dad who doesn't have a clue on how to work with Linux and I'm not at home always to be able to help make/break internet connections).

I guess Roaring Pengiun in Linux should be able to handle this task, shouldn't it. I have a SuSE client on my Windows machine aswell (tend to switch between Windows and Linux when necessary).

Thanks

Man, does no one know?
I sort of really need it.
Ok, does anyone maybe know of an alternative? Making/breaking internet connections from a client windows machine on a linux internet gateway?
Man I miss SuSE's smpppd
Can one maybe get smpppd to work on another Linux Distro?
