PPPs with the Post Office may prove more difficult that expected

Fair enough. Despite the difficulties though. The royal mail and Deutche Post work very well. I mean the people in the UK have this weird obsession with the Royal Mail

In the UK they are obsessed with physical mail for some reason. Banks there still insist on sending you paper statements in the post even if you don't want them to.

I guess they haven't had a 3 month postal strike yet...

Yeah, NO! As if the Post Office/PX fiasco wasn't a clear enough indication ...

ANYTHING "managed" by the state nowadays is a recipe for disaster, as all our SOEs can confirm.

Ag shame ne. Why don't they propose a household connection fee or a household levy like all the other useless institutions?

In the end it all boils down to individual accountability. The organizations with the most individual accountability will provide the best services.

In SA that's the private sector. Where at least employees might be taken to task for not working, or not working well. No matter how difficult this government makes it for businesses to do so; One way or another they can work the lazy dross out.

Government "businesses"? The worst a poorly performing worker can expect, is that they will be unfit, and get a bit out of breath when they toi-toi once a year as part of union action to get them an above inflation pay rise and a fat yearly bonus. From sitting on their butts and eating on the job too much the rest of the year.

No matter what else - You'll never get good performance out of "businesses" stuffed with such "workers". And I'm sure any number of government workers would object to such an opinion, in the belief that they have it tough too and worked hard, planned hard, strained themselves to get where they are - And they would be wrong.

It's true.
If you use too many postage stamps they send Sir David Attenborough to deliver your letter on horseback.
(After they opened and read your mail to make sure you're not a bigot)

Government will never accept a PPP that stops it's ability to loot the funding of an SOE they way they loot them now. The ANC are if nothing else professional thieves.

The Post Office is no longer relevant to me. No street delivery in my area, PO boxes in our area have all been abandoned, 3 local Post Offices have shut down, nearest one is 20km away and I'm not sure why it's even still open because there's just tumbleweeds when you go past there. SAPO is like a corpse that's being carried around by a bunch of people pretending that it's still alive despite it stinking to high heaven.
True, everything that does make it into my post box, is junk that goes from there directly to the dustbin.
