PPS deducts double debit orders

Members of Professional Provident Security (PPS) got a nasty surprise on Tuesday when their monthly debit orders were deducted twice.

One PPS member told MyBroadband his debit order of R2,789 was duplicated, resulting in his banking account balance being overdrawn.
 
They sent an apology and details of when it would be reversed before I even noticed it going off.
 
Debit order systems don't make these sorts of error, without human admin intervention.

Somebody likely got saddled with managing the debit order batch, who does not usually do it, or they were changing debit order systems and botched decommissioning of the old system.

48 hours to return the funds is pretty damned impressive though... usually they claim 7 - 10 working days.
