PR Hell: Multichoice's Clinton van der Berg

Yes but you need specific hardware in order to view the HD channels. Hardware sold only by MC.

That's a no brainer. Of course you need special hardware to get HD content. Do you think they/anyone would allow ODM/others to sell hardware to "collect" their broadcast channel signals for free? Therefore there is "Free to air" service/ channels that can be used if you buy their "special" hardware. Does that now mean you pay for the "Free to air" services?

Dude, you've completely missed the plot on this.
You're diverting focus from the initial topic to one of your own agenda although I'm not entirely sure why.

How sad. I have a agenda? No dude. Everyone in this country are to used to act like whining bithches, even if they get something "free" or a new service starts. Yet before that they prolly bitched because it was not available.

Thus no agenda. Better to take up/lodge your frustrations direct with Clinton and or MC as you were invited to do.

Seems there's apologists for atrocious service everywhere these days .....

You obviously make the assumption that I have not. As yet, I've had NO feedback from Multichoice, despite escalating it as requested by them.
That's why I figured that since I'm getting no response there, maybe a little public noise will move things along.

@Mephisto: Bwah haha hahahahahaha. Thanks, my man. I needed that.

Yeah, So the solution is then to cancel the subscription if you are so unhappy and wait for someone else to come to the party. But just like with Neotel the same whining bitches will complain again and wait for the next entrant to do the same again.

It would be different if you signed up and paid for the service and their content is not what was promised.

It is...they just give it to you now.:D

They will eventually charge a premium for HD, yes. Right now it is free.

We have a supplier from Belgium and another guy from Portugal here now. Television industry. They also had small issues, like us, with the launch of HD. Apparently they have 10 channels running now in Portugal, not sure about Belgium. Those guys have a lot more subscribers though, which equals more money. That is Europe, this is Africa. Multichoice is doing a pretty good job... though I agree that it could be better.

Once again, I think that you guys are blowing this way out of proportion.

Yep. Luckily my panties are still dry. Once Premium HD is 100% up and running I will even be willing to pay extra for it. Hope we can get some of the 2010 WC 3D transmissions :D but I doubt. At least it will be in HD I believe.

As I said in the very beginning, I'm not debating whether or not HD is worth it. Once it's working, it will definitely be.
The topic here is Mr van der Berg's complete and utter ignorance to the intricacies of decent customer service and public relations.

I think the key issue here is not so much the restrictions/ theething problems which MC is experiencing but more the disgusting attitude in which the service recovery is being applied. There is no place for sarcasm in the corporate world and Clinton's comments are full of it.

MC could deal with this professionally and gain support rather than sparking frustration amongst paying clients.

Very low grade.

Agreed, his comments are ignorant and unprofessional for a official representative of MC.

I think he needs a refresher training course in PR & Customer Relations.

I fail to see why people say this is being blown out of proportion when he basically wanted us to do his job i.e negotiate with content providers about service and quality issues.

He was basically saying I don't care that the feed was crap, go sort it out with SABC. It had the Supersport logo on it, aren't they proud of their brand?

Multichoice's latest attempt to keep me quiet has resulted in my account being set for auditing every time I submit a post.
Now all my posts need to be approved by a moderator.

Cheap shot, MC. Really cheap.

what do you expect from MC! I'm probably next. Corporate CENSORSHIP. I wish the media would be on our side for once. Someone should just start reporting on this kinda treatment of customers. Bad publicity is not good for shareholders and that seems its the only way capitalistic monopolies respond.

So do we pay extra subscription for HD? I was thinking of buying an HD PVR decoder and I was under the impression you are given access to these channels through purchasing the device.

Currently the service is a free extra so to answer your question, no you don't have to pay an extra subscription.

As for the future, I cannot say.

On a side note, I was sent a PM by "admin" stating that apparently I'm only there to pick a fight and to stir and other than that, add no constructive value to the forum.

I don't get it what is the use of a forum if you can't voice your concerns? If they wanted a forum where people just praise how good they are, why didn't they just make that a requirement in every post.

I think MC is a big monopoly that gives me poor customer service and endless repeats, and oh yeah is the best company for ever and ever.

Maybe someone needs to ask RPM to do an article on MC's censorship of people who raise pertinent issues.
