The main problem for proper off roading is usually tyres. Those cars have thin tyres and big rims. They'll get destroyed in the first obstacle. Usually also you cannot fit smaler rims and fatter tyres as the brakediscs and calipers are to big and the rims won't fit over them.
Where they do work is usually on sand. Here the big broad tyres work in their favour.

I got hold of a few videos showing a GLE doing some rough mountain drives but man it took like forever to do a few hundred meters.

Think people also get confused with 4x4 overlanding Vs 4x4 days .

Most overlanding is driving jeep/gravel. , With some sandy or muddy sections .....think of this as multi day game drives in the bush

Vs 4x4. days which can be on the extreme side with rock climbing and the like .

It is imperative that you use the mechanical and electronic assist systems in your 4×4 to your advantage.

This includes knowing when to use features such as hill assist, traction control, and low-gear – as they are there to help you.

Jimny drivers: Electronic assist systems??
