Pravin Gordhan

You quoted the above and made a comment about qualifications, so that implicitly referred to both.

You need to understand that quoting a previous poster does not mean all of it, use you intelligence and deduction on what the poster is referring to.

Except that none of them achieved anything, except in a corrupt political party in a banana republic - hardly an example of ambition.

Someone should tell the ANC that they don't have to pretend that they have degrees, they should rather pretend that they "weren't being challenged and didn't have time to waste, they were extremely driven".
:)

Pretend being the keyword.

The main discussion topic in this thread should be this letter that Gordhan published, it is quite profound and is going to cause a shytestorm.

Agree! I hope it means that Gordon can become the next president

IMO there would be a massive fight in the ANC before that would happen.

And most ANC members are racists, would they support him ?

Finance Minister is one thing, but President is quite another.

Wish that I could see the headlines of tomorrow's newspapers now.

I'm sure that they have already been set up.

jacob can't even read a number properly past 999, 999...and that's probably giving him too much credit!

Let's not forget his also the person who thinks all other continents in the world can fit into Africa, and that Africa is the biggest continent in the world, which is not separated by a river!

Gordhan has far more to show than jacob...and I refuse to use a proper noun when typing his name...that's how low I think of him. I care more about the dirt on the earth than I do about him!

...Rant over...

Zuma abandons Gordhan as Hawks investigation heats up: report By Staff WriterFebruary 28, 2016

Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan is facing further scrutiny from the Hawks investigative unit – and will be facing it alone, as President Jacob Zuma distances himself from the saga.

The report cited sources in the Hawks which said that President Zuma was briefed by police minister Nati Nhleko and Hawks head Major General Mthandazo Ntlemeza on the matter, and was taken through the contents of the note.

Government officials told the paper that Zuma has no power to instruct law enforcement agencies what to do, or to tell them to stop an investigation, and that Gordhan wanted to “be above the law, which is difficult for the president”.

According to the paper, insiders said Gordhan will not be receiving any legal help from the president, who believes the minister should co-operate with the investigation.

I would not like to be in Gordhan's shoes.

Not much additional information in the newspapers.

But this week is going to be interesting.

There are also the issues with the petrol-bombing EFF.

And now the revival of the gravyplane.

What a pity his plane failed on the ground instead of at 30 000 feet.

Even if Gordhan really is guilty of running a spy unit within SARS, the timing of this Hawks witch hunt, where Gordhan is the only suspect, points to political abuse of power from the top down and has GuZumpta fingerprints all over the witch hunt.

We all know that Zuma backed himself into a corner when he fired Nene as Minister of Finance and put one of his cronies into the position with Gupta aids in tow, which resulted in the cANCer party forcing Zuma to reappoint Gordhan after Nene refused to take back his job.

Gordhan publicly declared war on the GuZumptas by refusing to have anything to do with Gupta sponsored events and more importantly by threatening to cancel lucrative contracts awarded to GuZumpta-controlled companies, the GuZumptas have clearly been looking for a way to get rid of Gordhan and have decided to use the Hawks to politically assassinate Gordhan.

The rand had two spokes this week. First one was with the budget, second one when these stories broke on Friday. The markets clearly believes that there are these dark forces that try to destabilize South Africa.

I for one believe that the NRG was established within the law and that Pillay was 'removed' when his war on the illicit cigarette trade got to close to Zuma Inc.
