A college of mines asked me for advice. He wants a desktop PC for his home. He will be using it for both work and play
Work include Remote Desktop sessions and VPNing into our corporate network. Medium to heavy usage of Excel. On the play side, he wants this machine to double as home media centre as well, so watching movies, series etc.
He did however mention he is not interesting in building a PC component by component. He want something prebuilt/preconfigured with all warranties etc from one place. He could easily get a Dell/HP Desktop but I think he could get more bang for his buck elsewhere.
On the budget side, he has about 10-11k for this machine incl. OS. Some requirements though
- Dual screen setup probably 21/23'
- Connection to his flatscreen as well
- Mouse, kbd, speaker etc..
- OS - was thinking Win7 x64 Professional
So I'm a PC International fan and I thought that the "PERFORMER PC" would be a good base to start off from.
I'm not hardware fundi, but I guess the MB and graphics card need to go - not sure what to though.
TIA
