Pre-charge capacitor on solar setup

Hi Guys,

Do I need a pre-charge capacitor between my battery bank and a sunsynk 8kw inverter?
I'm guessing the inverter has something built in, but is it advisable to add your own too?

Most of us just use the KETO Jean Muller Fuse / switch disconnector. It works well and is expensive enough without adding active components.

I always thought you only need it once initial connection or maybe again if you have a freaky event ie unclean shutdown with battery in protection mode

as far as i have it good quality batteries have pre charge circuit built into bms (my shoto does)

no idea if the notion of in rush current can pop devices is real or just a myth

The first times i connected devices with a battery without pre charge resistor i did a light tap or two ie try not to make contact and hold to avoid more amps from flowing and naturally always make sure to have glasses on

and inform the family ok guys you are gonna hear a spark it is fine

MY first battery was small and while i was still learning about balancing cells i had a few protection low voltage shutdowns
