I bought a pre paid simcard, I loaded R280 on to it, the guy at the shop said it would give me a gig of data, I doubt I transfered that much then it ran out, Yesterday I bought R150 and transfered 64mb then out, any Idea.

How does this thing work actually.

Do I just buy any amount of mony or is there a special unit i must buy.

like saying to the shop give me 1GB data insted of rand X.

please help

No, if you buy R289 you'll get R289 worth of airtime. If you use that as it is, you'll be paying R2 per meg, which works out to something like 140 meg.

To get 1Gb, you need to buy a 1Gb data bundle with your R289, as explained by blueghost_39.

ok, just got R189 on it via STD Bank Internet banking, so i should expect to get 500mb

damn this is confusing.

When you have the airtime you can buy a databundle using one of the two options already mentioned.

If you connect to the internet without a bundle you pay R2.00/MB. Thus, if you only bought R189 of airtime and didn't convert that to a databundle you wil only get 94.5MB.

ONLY if you use that airtime you purchased to buy a data bundle.

I find it more convenient buying the data bundle using available airtime by logging onto the VC web site and process it there, as suggested above.
