Which router brands and specific models of routers for ADSL/VDSL, Fiber and LTE-A are more suited to use for streaming IPTV where Smart DNS, or VPN or maybe both may be required.

My choice would be to make your ISP supplied router a modem and plug in a small MikroTik router behind it.

Possibly not all ISP supplied routers are suitable for this. Then there are the routers that one can install DD-WRT on.

Pros, cons, etc.

Solutions that are Noob friendly preferred

I have the
Linksys WRT54G

with smart Dns proxy, since setup has always worked, Just when the ISP changed the Ip address you Just have to re sync, It just works....Pluto TV works BBC free and many many more...I have alos changed the Zones on my tv to UK so I get all4 etc and the new one Peacock.. But really there are so many options for Live streaming watching movies series, And There ar plenty that have Just been released That are simply exceptional. Get a Good Android Box, If you do not care for DSTV Now get the amazon fire TV 4K, For Local I Use the Telkom Lit Box. I have Both and I have The Roku as well, It just depends on what you want to watch. As for the Apple tv Well that is an enviroment on its own.

Thanks, here I am more interested in routers that make it simple to use the above services you have mentioned. Sometimes easier to implement this on a router, than on an Android box, never had a Roku, so cannot guess there. And as you have said, Apple TV's nice as they are, are a clised environment, which might also benefit from my current "exploration" of possible routers that might facilitate this.

Edit: must be Noob friendly for those pushing the remote buttons.
