Prelim R600 vs G80 test

lol i saw that a couple of days ago, and dam the R600 is a beast it was bending the G80 and then some. and its gonna be the same price as the 8800gtx! this is only good news for us coz the g80 prices have got to drop in order for the G80 to compete :) ,

Ha Ha those numbers are so wrong its bordering on Sad. It's lies I tell you, all lies.

Hey ShockG, when are you getting the new ATI card?

& WOAH I just read the article and damn ShockG you right!!! those numbers are shocking, I mean a 7950GX2 scoring 7925 in 3Dmark05...hahaha, that made me laugh :D & didnt you also post a link here to a screenie that you had with the 8800GTS scoring around 19000 in 05?

Not that I give these guys any legit creedence, I posted this more out of general interest/debate, what about their figures do you find so out of kilter?

Even if it is a total fabrication, do you really believe ATI/AMD are that useless they will launch a product (the R600) that will not even be comparible to the current 8800GTX?

@ 1600x1200 4xAA 16xAF ?

It was at 1024x768 so I suppose I cant really say more about score till I find some benchies now :p

Nah Roman I appreciate the link ;) I wasn't saying you are wrong. Just the info is all wrong and the results different from every other site out there.

Lets assume they tested on an FX-62 at worst. At stock speeds here are my 3DM05 numbers
=================
AMD FX-62 (2.8GHz) : 12,397
Intel X6800 (2.93GHz) 12,697
QX6700 (From 505) : 11,039! ohmy.gif (With a Quad Core right :/)

3DMark06
=======
QX6700 (from 505) :6368
FX-62: 7184
X6800: 7383

Isn't it strange FX-62 is much much faster than their QX6700 by almost 1K points in 06 and more than 1.2K points in 05?

Also doesn't help that the sites home page is that preview and the domain registered on the 28th of Dec :/

I have my doubts too. I will rather wait for proper release and more expert testing (Toms) before judgement. The costs and power requirements could also be an issue as well as actual delivery in numbers. Could not read the whole article as some pages would not load.

Read the article after a post on Dailytech. The site is very closely affiliated with ATI from what I understood. The results that they provide are quite dodgy at best.

Still looking forward to some decent benchmarks, and obviously the release. nVidia needs a competitior at the high-end, to bring some prices down. Hopefully the R600 is that competitor

Am still intrigued tho to find the flaw in their numbers to definatively prove/disprove it is a hoax.

Actually they claim a QX6700 overclocked to 3.2 GHz. ShockG I assume all your figures were done at 1600x1200 4xAA 16xAF (as they claim to have done) and not the defaults of 3DM 05 & 06?

Yes all done at 1600x1200 4xAA and 16XAF. I even missed the part about overclocking, which makes their numbers even worse. IO can't actually figure out how their numbers would be that low. They are lower than GTS numbers sometimes :/

i doubt this is true eh

looks very dodgy to me :)

but hopefully its true so i can get my cheap gts or gt :)

Well. according to the INQ (Fud factory) R600 has delayed yet again and will see the light of day in March. :/

oh god dammit, wtf is wrong with these companies? i was hoping that it would come out and own the nvidia, then the nvidia cards price will have to come down, but ati is screwed because nvidia are releasing overclocked versions of the dx10 in march, and then nvidia are releasing the midrange dx10 cards, so amd better prey they have a dam load fan boys or they will be picking up they soup in the showers;)
