Hello peoplez.

As it so happens, MWEB is now driving me insane and i need a few GB's to finish off some stuff.

Afrihost is R40per/GB - What... expensive?
Openweb is R19 - shaped - WHAT? Why the hell do you shape a capped account?

Haven't really looked around at others? Any suggestions?

Nevermind,

Bought an axxess R19 thing ma bob. Let's see how it treats me.

I have a Billion router supplied by Mweb - heard it can't be used with any other ISP. Is this the case?

Anyone else gonne be camping out at their pc come middle of the weekend to see the impact of 1.2Gb additional capacity?....

I know. Last month I also went the Web Africa route and bought pre-paid bandwidth. MWEB is really crappy the last couple of days. Only problem is Web Africa is damn expensive! R69 / Gig.

Must say, it was damn fast though. Absolutely no Youtube buffering. Now back on MWEB and although browsing is sort of maybe acceptable, YouTube is frustratingly slow, buffers every 5 seconds.

I have MWEB uncapped, but I also have WebAfrica data1 which costs R59pm for the purpose of instant backup. It uses SAT-3/SAFE vs Mweb's SEACOM. I find I use the WebAfrica account several times a month when there are problems on MWEB uncapped. Once you've bought the data1 account, though, you can top up at R45 per 3 gigs. I haven't had to top up yet, but it is nice to know I can at a reasonable price. The WebAfrica bandwidth is very fast and responsive, but even R15/gig is too expensive to replace uncapped.

Needless to say the Axxess account is FLYING!!!

nothing under 45kb unless i switch the microwave on :p
