Prepaid Blackberry service please help! (Resolved)

I want to give the blackberry data service a try on prepaid before I activate it on my contract. I am trying to set it up on a htc tytn. I downloaded and installed Blackberry connect (device software) for the tytn found at: http://www.vodacom.co.za/services/blackberry/downloads_blackberry_connect.jsp
I then went to vodacom4me and purchased the blackberry service for 30 days.

I am unable to connect to the net via the blackberry apn.
Whenever I open a browser (opera or ie) the phone connects on the normal internet apn not blackberry.net.

In the blackberry connect settings it shows:

Identety
Pin: pending
IP address: No connection

Status
Servise: not connected (with the option to suspend)

Email settings (options grayed out)

Utility: register now (A option to register the device with a network, when I select this I can see that it does connect to the blackberry apn but gets disconnected)

Activation: Enterprise activation (an email address and password field)

Services: An empty service list

Options
Under connection blackberry is selected when I click details I can see the blackberry.net apn, username, password, ip and ports.

PIM: nothing is selected

About: blackberry version 4.0.0.76
Transport version 4.0.0.78

Anybody managed to get the prepaid blackberry service going on windows mobile?
Any help would be appreciated thanks.

No sorry, to be honest I don't even know what service books is:confused:

They said I need to register on the blackberry site with my IMEI and PIN found on the blackberry connect software, but my PIN under identity says pending, I think I've found it on the htc box. I am still waiting for her to sms me the link to the registration site though.
 
Phoned them again and they gave me: http://www.mobileemail.vodafonesa.co.za/
I tried to create a account on the site with my IMEI and the P/N number found on the box and at the back of the phone but the site says the information is incorrect. I am not sure where to find the "Device PIN" :confused:

I don't really care about email I sync my phone with exchange.
The unlimited data is the part I am interested in.
 
You might not care about email but you still need to register to get your service books.

I've got connect installed on something - I'll see if I cant figure out where the Blackberry PIN number is.

Thanks man, I think I might have found the problem. I was skimping on downloading the desktop software for blackberry (50MB on 3G). From what I've read elsewhere it generates the PIN and sends it to the device. I will try that and see if it does generate a PIN number.

Got mine working very well on the Tytn 2 without having to load the desktop software. Let me know if you haven't come right and I send the setup through for you.

The VC BlackBerry service rocks, I have activated it on my 8310 and its awesome, especially browsing the WWW and not being charged for it.... :D

Here is what I have done before I had your instructions: I installed the blackberry software (found on the Vodacom site) on my storage card I then went and bought the 30 day service on www.vodacom4me.co.za I then removed the battery and rebooted. I noted that the phone was very slow. I then read on HTC’s site that I shouldn't install blackberry connect on my SD card because it will cause the device to hang and make it slow so I removed the app and installed it on the device memory.
I phoned customer care and they told me to register on http://www.mobileemail.vodafonesa.co.za/. The only problem is that under identity it says PIN: pending, so I cannot register.
I wonder if the PIN wasn’t send after purchasing the bundle and then by removing the app I removed the PIN? Perhaps VODACOM3G can help with this one? I really don’t want to spend another 60 bucks on something that might give the same results.
I have tried to reinstall the blackberry connect software but with the same result, I have also tried installing the TYTN2 cab but it is unable to run on the TYTN1.

I finally got it all working yesterday after reading countless forms.
Eventually this was the one that helped me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371652
The only problem I had was my "Device ID" under Start>settings>System>About>Device ID - I had a underscore ( _ ) in the Device name. After removing the underscore and rebooting the device I got n PIN instantly and was able to register.
 
Pin is generated when you installed the BB Connect Software and run the software.

On the Nokia , BB Connect does the following ...

Installed BB Connect to phone memory , does'nt give an option to install to memory card.
Also sets up 2 X APN's , names BlackBerry & BlackBerry2 (between the 2 access points installed , there are no differences with regard to settings , both have the same username , data bearer , access point name , authentication methods) , its purely a name difference.

Again on the Nokia BB Connect , you set it to either always On or Timed or Off and then you have peak and off peak times.

1st thing to do is set it to on , it should after a few seconds initiate a connection using its new access points to BlackBerry's server where it will then "register" itself with the wireless network & at that stage the PIN option becomes populated with meaningful data (the BIS sites then request the devices IMEI number as well)

This is the way it is done on a Nokia , I'd love to show you screenshots but for security reasons my device pin will be available and then someone could erase my settings from MTN's Blackberry offering and cause havoc.

How? I cant count the number of ppl who have my BB PIN number. Pin to Pin is one of my favourite ways of messaging.
