Just moved from Vodacom contract to prepaid this month, which got me thinking - how cheap can I go if I get creative with VOIP apps like Whatsapp and Lync/Skype for Business for voice calls?

Seems like a no brainer to port my number to MTN to take advantage of cheaper mobile data offered by Axxess, which based on feedback seems to work fine on prepaid sims and rolls over as well. Anyone else doing the same or is there an even smarter play?

Feedback hugely appreciated, thanks

Works well with MTN prepaid yes. Do you have a LTE device. I made a couple of whatsapp calls via MTN LTE and the other person also was on MTN LTE and the quality was better than a normal phone call by far.

Currently MTN prepaid LTE sim with Afrihost with plus+ is the cheapest option but they only offer month to montn with no roll over so Axxess can be a decent option.

Best value for money in SA no matter what you try is MTN prepaid on MTN pay per second price plan with Axxess or Afrihost Mobile and buying MTN signature bundles to bring the call rate to +-60c per minute to any network anytime.
