Looking for some advice if anyone has some regarding an issue with our prepaid electricity.

Three days ago our electricity went off just before midnight. I checked the usual items and also the units on our meter and all was good apart from a sad face on the unit. We logged a call and waited for morning to come so that they could attend to it. Now before they came out I got the manual for our Landis Gyr meter and found a code to punch in to check the state of the registers on the meter and used 031 - Meter(fixed) state register 0 and it showed that the meter was in the "Meter tampered" state.

Anyway City Power came out to check and told us the same thing but after checking they couldn't see any signs of tampering. They went back to the office and said that they would send us a code to enter that would reset the tamper state which they did about an hour later and it worked. I asked what the issue was then and they said nothing but "faulty meter".

This morning at around 1:30 it happened again and so I followed the same steps (logging call, checking the 031 status) and it again showed that it was in the "Meter tampered" state. They came out this morning again to take a look after calling to confirm that we were still without power and saw the same thing again for themselves however this time they called while here and got us another reset code which worked again. They checked again more thoroughly this time to see if the meter had signs of tampering and there were none, seal still intact, etc.

On questioning them further they reported that this same issue has been happening to other clients. I've searched for this a bit however I can't find any other people reporting the same issue, has anyone here had something similar happen where their meter just decides that now it has been screwed with?

Can we request them to fix or replace the meter at their cost as it was supplied and installed by them when they switched us to prepaid several years ago?

Hi there the meter Is most faulty and needs to be replaced the landis & gyr Meter’s the relay in the meter is probably faulty causing the meter to think it is tampered with when the relay contacts arc normaly happens when the meter is old.

Yeah we figured it is faulty and are expecting it to freak out again soon but I'm hoping to not have to replace it myself as cash is a bit hard right now. Thanks for the info.

Hie, I am in Zimbabwe and l use a Landis Gy+ Prepaid Metre purchased from Republic of South Africa. Well, mine has a problem showing error code 2222. When l try to punch in numbers to top up a token, it is failing to enter all token numbers then report an error 2222 or 40 then turn off. Please, help me out.

If possible, please, may you forward your reply to [email protected] incase l fail to see your reply here.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards
