Loading prepaid data onto my Vodacom account was far easier than I anticipated and a surprisingly pleasant experience.
I was given the task of buying a SIM card and loading 2GBs of data with no more help from my spouse than: “The Vodashop assistant will know what to do, don’t worry.”
I was more than worried because not only do I have a short fuse when it comes to customer care but I wasn’t sure that what I was asking for was common knowledge.
The Cresta Vodashop manager not only knew exactly what I wanted but he did it for me and gave me the following easy steps for next time I need to load data:
1. Buy prepaid airtime and load it onto the SIM card using a Vodacom enabled phone.
2. Dial *111#
3. Select option 2 for Bundle Purchases
4. Select option 2 again for Data Bundle
5. From here follow the prompts to load the amount of data you require i.e. 1GB, 2GB etc.
I was warned a few times that I must turn my prepaid airtime into data using the above process or I’ll pay R2 a Meg (out of bundle rates).
