Hi Guys,

This is not specific to Virgin but I did not see a better place to post this.

Are data costs the same across prepaid sim cards ? I want to buy a prepaid simcard to use in a 3G modem do I just buy anyone ?

Also which is the better SP to go with here ?

Thanks

In terms of cost

Standard Rate:

Virgin Mobile - R0.60
VodaCom / MTN / Cell C - R2.00
8.ta - R1.00

(< R50 ) best deal is with Virgin Mobile (Check before hand that Virgin has 3G access not all areas in South Africa have access)

(> R50) 8.ta has the best data bundle rate for large data bundles starting at R50 for 100mb to R250 for 1GB

( Uncapped for a day) with MTN for R50

- You use the same airtime that you would buy at the shop, you convert the airtime into data bundles
- Mostly it depends on your coverage = ISP of your choice ,Do not go spending R250 for a gb if you cant get coverage
- These are low cost once off options, real deals are with Cell C where you pay upfront and get data for 12 months

Hope this helps
