Prepaid Sim

So i was looking for a MTN sim for normal use because virgin mobile is giving me problems..
I went to the nearest branch with my ID and proof of residents to apply for Rica at the same time.

I ask the cashier for a Prepaid MTN sim.
She told me the Sim is R10 :wtf:

You can get exactly the same sim card for R1 at PEP..

So what is the deal with this ...

That is wierd yes it should be allot cheaper.

I paid R5 today.
Got home, insert the card, switch on the phone, it says, "welcome to mtn" and then screen goes blank.

Its called profit and the fact that PEP stores is the largest retailer of mobile phones also allows them to market the SIM at R1.
