From the MTN website I see that you can get the datacard on prepaid but can one get one of the data bundles on prepaid? I get the slight impression one can but then how do they charge the monthly fee?

Thanx

If you sign the contract with the TopUp choice 75 (which is a glorified pay as you go) they will charge you R75 a month and credit it to your account. If you add a databundle they will add that to your monthly debit order. Remember you can get a card for next to nothing if you do this.

If you are talking about a normal pay as you go, I think you charge your card with enough bucks and phone 1555 or something like that for them to activate the bundle. You can only add 1 data bundle a month.

Buy a prepaid sim from CNA for R2. Put the sim in a phone and dial *123*11#. Save the two sets of settings that will be sent to you, load airtime as per normal. Dial 141 and follow the ivr prompts to turn airtime into a databundle package (option 3- i think), and voila! Your sim is ready to use in your datacard.

Also remember that a dababundle is valid for 30 days. If you however use up your bundle in this time you can't buy another bundle in this time period. You must first wait for the 30 days to expire before loading your next databundle. The voice option (option 3) will be missing and you will not be allowed to load another databundle before the 30 days is up.

Regards

Does vodacom have a similar service where one can load a bundle once a month?

Can any body tell me why a data bundle is only valid for 30 days, but all other prepaid funds get rolled over!!! Would it be so hard for MTN to achieve glory in this mater. Suppose i cant complain to loudly, i have cards from all three providers and find MTN works the best for me!

If you dial *123*13# only the GPRS settings is sent to you. If you are using a datacard, you do not need the second set (MMS) settings.

Apparently not, but they're rumoured to start offering it in June.
