So I bought a Prestigio 7500 on Takealot.
I have a thing for unconventional phones, I bought a Hisense Infinity Prime 1 year ago on Takealot for R1800 and was blown away by what I got for the price. So it instilled belief in me that these lesser known brands can be good buys.
You can skip the following section if you just want the review:
I got mugged and stabbed 2 months later and they took my Hisense. I bought a Zest Z1, because I didn't wanna buy the same phone.
The Zest was good, not as good as the Hisense, but close. The one advantage it had was wifi range, it could connect from anywhere in my house. One disadvantage was the screen quality/resolution vs the Hisense.
So, I wanted a phone that could run Hearthstone.
The Prestigio caught my eye and was in my price bracket - I gave it a bash.
I wouldn't recommend this phone for the price.
The bad:
The phone has a 1.5 ghz quad core CPU and 1gb of RAM. Despite these specs meeting the requirements for Hearthstone, the game would lag so bad that eventually the phone became a brick and you had to reset it. This same Hearthstone runs on a Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo Plus (R2000 phone) so this is unacceptable.
Micro stutter/lag when swiping on the home screen (while negligible at first, this will irritate you very quickly)
Awkward simcard installation/removal.
The good:
1080p
Stock android
Looks stylish
Free cover
Typing with it feels fast/responsive and gives proper tap feedback.
Grey Area: Swiping on the screen in any shape or form requires a hard press and swipe, making quick flicks rather tedious. However this is up to personal interpretation as to whether or not it's a good or bad thing.
Overall: I recommend it if you want a good looking phone/screen with responsive typing, but don't want to do any gaming. But honestly, at this price range, if you aren't interested in more power user tasks, you might as well buy something cheaper.
