...lets see what happens - any bets on if this will remain up? Me thinks another problem will occur elsewhere before the day is out - being a Friday and all...just the pessimist in me!

This is another excellent reason why Telkom should have competition.

Their network is a single node of failure.

I can testify to the enourmous amount of financial losses this morning due to companies being crippled without ADSL. Please remember that Pretoria has the highest ADSL penetration into the SMME market in the country.

One of my clients ordered iBurst this morning - just in case Telkom fails to deliver again.

One of our clients is a BIG user of Telkom's X.25 network, with their NOC in Centurion. The PJV (Pretoria) X.25 node went down since it seems midnight to 10:30, bringing their network country-wide to a halt. Apparently there was a power failure at the node.

Telkom and Pretoria didn't get along this morning ...

Telkom catch a wake up

I tested my adsl at about 9 this morning and the sync light was on but my connection was totally dead.
Phoned my ISP and they couldn't see me logged on.
Phoned 0800 375 375 which wasn't answered and then visited Telkom Customer Care Centre asking if they are aware of any problems in my area and they said NO definitively NOT and that it's my router's fault and that I should bring in the router in for them to test!

How much money would people have wasted trying to fix this problem when Telkom didn't even bother to inform their local cutomer centre that there is a major problem.

****ers!
