I remember some years ago, before my wife got her contract, she had a prepaid option. If I remember correctly, she paid R120 per year to keep her number active. This also allowed calls to be received.
She could then buy airtime as she needed.
Does it still work like this ?
Could you buy, say a R75 airtime voucher and have this available for like 6 months, if you don't really make any calls ?

Anybody have info on this ?

If your wife doesn't use her phone at all for I think 7 months then it might be disconnected.

A R29 voucher and actual activity will ensure the phone doesn't get cut off. As far as the R120 per year to keep your number active. Never heard of such a thing.

As far as I know the airtime will be available forever as long as the phone doesn't get cut off (ie no activity in 7 months)

I was given a cellphone a few years ago with airtime loaded, apart from the airtime I've won in Vodacom competitions I've NEVER bought airtime, and the phone it's still working. I send the occasional SMS, and have made one or two calls in about two years. Don't know if it's some sort of anomaly.
