Hi

Can someone advise me on the legality of this situation.

I requested a formal quote for products from a supplier on 15th of May (wed)
I released payment for the products on the 17th of May (fri)
I send the proof of payment on the 20th of May (mon)

The sales guy says that they change their prices every Monday (ie 20thMay in this case) because of ROE and they will not deliver until I now pay the additional difference in prices even though I released the money on the Friday but only sent them the proof thereof on the Monday after the prices had been adjusted.

Thanks

A) Did the quote say until when it was valid?
B) Did they give you an invoice when you paid? If they've given you an invoice for x then they cannot charge you x+y later.

Did you pay on Invoice or on the quote? I always ask for an invoice before I pay. Also what were the terms stated on the quote?

Most hardware suppliers these days only offer quotes for between 24-48 hours due to stock levels and Rand / Dollar fluctuations.

I checked a previous order from Rebeltech:
Please note that pricing is valid for date of order due to the
volatillity of the R/$ Exchange.
Although I do suspect that technically it can only be marked as paid once the money is received.

Check how long the quote is valid for - if you paid before the expiry date then its simple - they cannot change the price.

Demand your money back.

But let's also say that you haven't provided enough information. The order in which things have happened based on your post are:
You asked for a quote. 15th
You sent them money. 17th
You entered into a sales transaction. 20th

Now, a decent company would listen to a client and take the transaction as though it happened on the 17th. Because the sales system would only find out about the deal on the 20th it means a bit of extra work for the sales guy. Clearly he isn't interested so take your business elesewhere.
