I have just sold a client a new laptop and he has given me his previous laptop to refurbish and sell on.

I have just finished refurbishing it and now need to know what a realsitic price would be for it.

Acer Travelmate 233X
14.1" XGA TFT LCD
Mobile Intel Celeron 2.0GHz-M
1 x 128MB DDR Ram ( can upgrade to 2 x 256MB DDR Ram)
20GB Ultra ATA/100 HDD
24 x CD-Rom

Comes with all original documentation, System and recovery disks. (XP Home). Currently installed is XP Pro, Office 2003 etc.

What price should he expect for this machine?

Add more RAM to the hungry laptop.

I think 128MB was the recommended RAM for Windows ME. With XP Pro. and Office 2003 installed on 128MB RAM the slower harddisk pagefile will be used 90% of the time.

*pops in 2 x 256MB Ram modules*

Anybody interested in a refurbished Acer Travelmate 233X?

Seeing how "refurbish" is a VERY subjective term, I'm curious, what do you do to it to "refurbish" it?

Depends on what needs to be done to the machine so that it runs as per factory specs. On this specific machine I replaced the battery, formatted the hard drive and performed some diagnostic checks to ensure tha there are no bad sectors (if there were to repair, otherwise replace the drive), re-install the operating system and other programs, ensure all drivers are updated and working.

In all ensure that all the hardware and software is in top shape as it would be when you purchased the machine new.
